Product Review: Udi’s Bagels

There has been a lot of hype in the gluten-free community about the American brand Udi’s finally making it over to the UK (more specifically, to the shelves of Tesco). American friends had told me how much they loved their Udi’s bread, and on the GF message boards people were posting messages of the ‘WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?’ variety. Udi’s website claims to have made people cry with joy at the amazing taste of their products, so I was quite excited to try some. So far I have only spotted the plain bagels on sale (which naturally, I bought) but there are allegedly quite a few products available – choc chip muffins, mince pies, cinnamon & raisin bagels, apple & cinnamon pastries, granola, snack bars and more. This, shock horror, was my first ever time eating a bagel*. I have now tried Udi’s bagels toasted, microwaved, spread with butter, peanut butter and pizza topping…and…I don’t get it.
